"The Australian name for the Syrah grape, widely used elsewhere, and therefore a name better known by consumers than its Rhone original. Becuase Australian Shiraz has been so successful in European markets, the word Shiraz has been used on wine labels for Syrah grown all over the world...”

Bare Winemakers McLaren Vale Shiraz (12pk)

More about Bare Winemakers  Find a stockist

Summary: Bare, in its most fundamental, means laid out for all to see. That’s the joy of these three wines from three celebrated winemakers in three distinct regions. The Bare Winemakers celebrates wines made in a ‘less is more’ fashion by artisan winemakers from celebrated South Australian regions including the McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills’ and the Limestone Coast.

Winemaking: Fruit sourced from two of Mclaren Vales finest Sub regions Tatachilla and Seaview. Tatachilla providing darker fruits and intensity, Seaview contributing red fruits and aromatics lift. Carefully hand-harvested, destemmed and cold soaked for 5 days before being allowed to warm to start fermentation. Naturally fermented in 3 tonne open topped fermenters and gently hand plunged twice daily until sugar dryness. Then pressed off to old large oak barrels for maturation. After 12 months oak maturation the wine was blended, and bottled. Minimal SO2 was used in the production of this wine.

Tasting Note: Deeply coloured, vibrant youthful raspberry, cherry and blackcurrant aromas. The palate is richly concentrated, full and robust in style, primary but balanced. A lovely core of fruit and seamless acid line with the ability to age well. Pair with char grilled eye fillet and duck fat roasted Potatoes.

Black Barrel Shiraz (12pk)

More about Black Barrel  Find a stockist

Winemaking: Fruit from low yielding, old-vine Barossa vineyards, vinified in small open fermenters and hand plunged before partial maturation in three hundred litre, high toast barrels for six months.

Vintage 2024: Below-average winter and spring rainfall in the Barossa Valley meant vines had to work hard early in the growing season. Budburst began in September—about three weeks earlier than in previous years. However, frosts in September and October caused significant damage to some vineyards, reducing yields. Rainfall and cooler conditions in November and December helped the vines recover and thrive, with most varieties harvested before the end of March.

Tasting Note: Big, bold, and full of flavour, this 2024 Barossa Shiraz pours a deep purple and hits you with rich aromas of blackberry, plum, and a touch of mocha and spice. The palate is generous and smooth, packed with juicy dark fruit, soft tannins, and a lick of oak. It’s full-bodied but balanced, with a long, warm finish that leaves you wanting another sip. Classic Barossa – bold, ripe, and seriously satisfying.

Elefante Tempranillo Shiraz (12pk)

More about Elefante  Find a stockist

Castilla La Mancha: The vast, high and dry plains of Castilla la Mancha comprise over 50% of Spain’s vineyards. The ancient soils and high altitude ensures the richly flavoured fruit maintains structure and tannin. Vineyards planted on the slopes of mountain ranges in the north and north east add a degree of elegance to the wines.

Winemaking: Ripe and intensely flavoured Tempranillo was given a long and cool maceration in vats before maturation in stainless steel. Shiraz added mid palate intensity and overall fruit weight. Finally, 10% of the blend was Tempranillo sourced from the San Vincente region of Rioja and matured in aged oak barrels for complexity and structure.

Tasting Note: Deep red in colour with a ripe, expressive nose of berries, plums and smoked spice. The palate is rich and opulently fruited, packed with dark berried Shiraz fruit matched by structured, savoury Tempranillo and framed by silky tannins. Impressively complex and well balanced, this wine will gain character and complexity in the cellar for up to five years. Perfect with chargrilled chorizo and olives.

Farm Hand Grenache (6pk)

More about Farm Hand  Find a stockist

Summary: The Farm Hand wines are grown by the Grigoriou family, fourth generation wine growers, from almost one hundred acres of Organic Vineyards in the Monash Valley of South Australia.

Winemaking: Fully de-stemmed before fermentation in a mix of open and closed tanks. The wine was primarily vinified without the influence of oak for maximum fruit expression before blending with a component aged in three and four year old French oak

Vintage 2024: A cooler than average growing season, frost, the lack of rain and poor weather during flowering including strong winds throughout November and December resulted in lower yields however, the dry and consistent weather during picking resulted in a vintage of high-quality fruit.

Tasting Note: Bright and expressive, the 2024 Farm Hand Grenache bursts with wild strawberries, ripe raspberries, and a lift of fresh herbs and florals, underscored by a hint of citrus zest. The palate is juicy and medium-bodied, with vibrant red berry flavours and a creamy, supple texture, while a subtle touch of seasoned oak lends gentle depth and structure without overshadowing the wine’s freshness. Fine, silky tannins and lively acidity carry through to a long, energetic finish, making it an inviting and versatile red for early enjoyment

Summary: The Farm Hand wines are grown by the Grigoriou family, fourth generation wine growers, from almost one hundred acres of Organic Vineyards in the Monash Valley of South Australia.

Vineyards: The moderate, dry climate with very low rainfall during autumn and fertile soils is perfect suited to Organic Viticulture. The well established vines (up to thirty years of age) are planted widely apart for airflow to minimise disease pressure and minimal drip irrigation ensures low yielding fruit with rich flavours and varietal expressiveness

Tasting Note: This 2024 Pinot Noir from South Australia is pure and vibrant, offering aromas of crushed red cherries, wild strawberries, and a hint of rose petal. The palate is light-bodied and silky, with juicy red fruit flavours, lively acidity, and a whisper of spice from the grape’s natural character. Little Giant 'Little Batch' Malbec Shiraz (6pk)

More about Little Giant  Find a stockist

Summary: The southern hairy-nose wombat is smaller than other wombats but is stocky, robust and the proud state emblem of South Australia. Like the might of the little wombat, Little Giant is crafted from premium regional South Australian fruit from established vineyards that deliver character and interest well above their size and weight.

Hand-crafted and made with minimal additions and preservatives, these are wines made of the vineyard. The grapes are picked at optimal ripeness, minimally handled in the winery and fruit vibrancy is not hidden by non-essential artifact. Seeking first and foremost fruit expression, drinkability and to be a great accompaniment to food. Don’t let the size fool you, these are wines you’ll want to drink.

Winemaking: A classic Clare Valley blend where Malbec seems to thrive. Malbec is a variety that loves Clare and its soils, the daily warmth and cool evenings during harvest. Minimal time in oak barrels of up to 3 months. The essence of this blended wine is to showcase youthful Malbec fruits with its vibrancy and freshness.

Vintage 2020: 2020 was a challenging vintage being one of the hottest and driest on record. Windy conditions at flowering meant an uneven fruit set that meant lower yields. Despite lower crops the quality was high and the best examples are shining.

Tasting Note: The brooding Malbec is softened by the addition of juicy Shiraz. Bright, thick skinned and slightly tannic Malbec is enhanced by a judicious splash of fragrant, blue and red berried spicy Shiraz. The palate is full bodied and packed with flavour with a great deal of weight and concentration on the long finish. Good drinking now but certain to improve with careful cellaring. Look no further than pairing it with roast lamb.

Winemaking: Sourced from a highly valued vineyard on the Willunga foothills of McLaren Vale, facing north westerly. The vineyard grows highly prized fruit for many of the top McLaren Vale producers. Matured for 4 months in large oak 500 litre barrels the wine was then blended and bottled.

Vintage 2023: McLaren Vale fared better than many regions in 2023, with a mild early summer followed by warmer conditions from January to March and just one day over 40°C. Although yields were below average, the vintage produced red wines—especially Shiraz—with vibrant colour, intense varietal character, and excellent concentration, making Shiraz the standout.

Tasting Note: This McLaren Vale Shiraz is wonderfully fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows blackberry, rich floral, game, clove, and nutmeg aromas. The palate delivers excellent weight and plump mouthfeel, wonderfully framed by layers of fine-grained tannins, finishing robust and flavoursome.

Like the might of the little wombat, Little Giant is crafted from premium regional South Australian fruit from established vineyards that deliver character and interest well above their size and weight.

Seeking first and foremost fruit expression, drinkability and to be a great accompaniment to food. Don’t let the size fool you, these are wines you’ll want to drink.

Winemaking: Harvested at night to ensure freshness and acidity in fruit. The grape were then gently pressed and cool fermented in stainless steel.

2025 Vintage: The 2025 season in Mount Benson delivered wines that beautifully capture the region's coastal charm. A dry winter and spring led to an early start in the vineyards, but the nearby Southern Ocean provided cooling breezes that helped maintain balance throughout the growing season. Favourable flowering conditions and a mild summer yielded a well-balanced crop. The resulting wines exhibit vibrant acidity and refined structure.

Tasting Note: The southernly cool climes of Mount Benson create a fresh and lifted wine with pure varietal flavours or pear, apples and spice building to an impressively generous mid-palate, before a crisp dry finish.
