Thick gnarled old vines produce tiny berries of incredible intensity that is harnessed by careful winemaking and partial maturation in large seasoned oak barrels to deliver wonderfully approachable, opulent and mouth-coating flavours. Winemaking: Sourced from two vineyards that were planted with one on black and the other on red soils of the famed Coonawarra. The wine spent lesser time on skins that usual and following a cool and uneventful primary fermentation the wine was pressed off into a combination of stainless steel and second-use French oak for maturation where it was held for a period of 10 months prior to blending and bottling. Vintage 2022: A cool season in Coonawarra saw good yields enjoy extended ripening through mild autumn days and cool nights. This was one of the best vintages for the region and the reds were outstanding performers. Tasting Note: Bold and rich, featuring smooth silky tannins. The palate is rich with notes of blackcurrant, plum, and dark chocolate, supported by hints of cedar-wood and spice. A great expression of the region for 2022 and delicious drop. Winemaker: Corey Ryan Closure: Screwcap Alcohol: 13.5% Pack Size: 6 Bottle Pack Summary: Crimson Monster creates monstrously rich and full-bodied wines sourced from low-yielding, established vineyards located in some of South Australia’s finest regions such as McLaren Vale and Coonawarra. Thick gnarled old vines produce tiny berries of incredible intensity that is harnessed by careful winemaking and partial maturation in large seasoned oak barrels to deliver wonderfully approachable, opulent and mouth-coating flavours. Winemaking: Staggered hand-picking sections of the vineyard ensuring the fruit is at optimal ripeness. The fruit was de-stemmied and fermentation occurred in a combination of two-tonne fermenters with twice daily hand plunging and pump overs. All components blended post-fermentation before the final wine was partly matured in small French oak barrels for 6 months before bottling with minimal fining, filtration and sulphur addition. Vintage 2024: Strong winds throughout late November and much of December heavily affected flowering - affecting the yield of crop. A cooler than average growing season and a dry fall has delivered quality fruit and exciting reds. Thick gnarled old vines produce tiny berries of incredible intensity that is harnessed by careful winemaking and partial maturation in large seasoned oak barrels to deliver wonderfully approachable, opulent and mouth-coating flavours. Winemaking: Sourced from a highly valued vineyard on the Willunga foothills of McLaren Vale, facing north westerly. The vineyard grows tiny, intense and high quality berries that delivered the richer flavours expected for a Crimson Monster Shiraz. Matured in a combination of stainless steel and large French oak 500 litre barrels. The wine was then blended and bottled. Vintage 2023: McLaren Vale fared better than many regions in 2023, with a mild early summer followed by warmer conditions from January to March and just one day over 40°C. Although yields were below average, the vintage produced red wines—especially Shiraz—with vibrant colour, intense varietal character, and excellent concentration, making Shiraz the standout. Tasting Note: Crimson Monster McLaren Vale Shiraz is a rich, full-bodied expression of the region, offering intense aromas of blackberry, black plum and dark chocolate, with hints of liquorice and spice. The palate is dense and powerful, delivering layers of ripe dark fruit, mocha and subtle oak, supported by velvety tannins and generous weight.
