Bertaine Rose 2019

2nd June 2020
Funk, fresh, flavoursome... 91 Points

"Syrah rosé from the mighty Aude Valley. Carcassonne is a lovely place, and who doesn’t love a hearty cassoulet in winter, aside vegetarians, of course. Damn, it’s cold today too, I think I may have to make one. Oh, and the label looks like it’s been run off on a photocopier, homespun, though I’d be pretty sure that’s intentional.  Importer: Fourth Wave Wine. Redcurrant, some citrus zest, flowers, strawberries. It’s fresh, subtle sweetness, a little chalky texture and a wee bit of funk, fresh, flavoursome, good length, and all round tasty drinking. It’s not from Provence, so you save a few dollars as a result. Anyway, I like it."
