Woods Crampton Frances and Nicole Shiraz 2017

30th June 2020
Dry, earthen, rusty... 95 Points

"Fechner Vineyard. Eden Valley Shiraz. Dry-grown. Hand picked. 50% new French oak for 18 months. It’s of the tar and brimstone ilk, in that it’s smoky and ferrous and bursting with bitumen, but it’s juiced with blackcurrant, is alive with fragrant herb, fennel and florals, and has just enough of a creaminess to its texture to give it a luxury feel. Tannin is dry, earthen, rusty and completely integrated. It has long term wine written all over it but its inherent balance will have it drinking well just about anytime from now."
