Woods Crampton Frances and Nicole Shiraz 2018
10th August 2020
"The best wine we make dedicated to the best decision we made”, is what it says on the back label, which gives me pause before tasting their more expensive ($125) Shiraz offerings from the same vintage. Fechner vineyard here, and 3258 bottles produced. 50% new French oak. Barossa and Eden Valley Shiraz is not really my metier (or so I’m told), though I do my best.
Packed with blue and black fruit, sage, mint and creamy spiced oak. Full bodied, supple and mouth-filling sweet small berried fruit, distinctly Eden Valley with all that perfume and butter sizzled sage, biscuit spices, fleshy smooth tannin running on a long and blueberry laced and truffle infused finish. Smooth. Generous. So much flavour packed into the glass."
