Little Giant 'Little Batch' Grenache Tempranillo 2019

21st May 2021
Immediate drinking pleasure... 91 Points

"Grenache and tempranillo are two grape varieties that can blend beautifully together, most notably in Spain’s most famous wine region, Rioja. The key to these wines is their generosity of user-friendly fruit with grenache making the wines fleshy while tempranillo adds some savoury complexity. This version would be labelled as a Crianza in Spain, with a little time in oak and made for immediate drinking pleasure. It’s got good colour and is a rich and fruit forward style with sweet red fruits supported by some baked earth aromatic complexity, and oak sitting in the background. Tempranillo comes out to play more on the palate with dark fruits and sandy tannins helping to provide decent length. Crack it open with mixed meat Tapas for the full Spanish experience."
