Conde de los Andes Tempranillo 2013
9th March 2017
"There’s Rioja and there’s Rioja. Much of it is overblown with oak; this one isn’t. It’s grown on 50-year-old vines. Power and finesse. Depth and a certain lightness of touch. Sweetness but a coffee-bean, almost rustic savouriness.
You can describe it in many ways but the end conclusion is that this wine is blessed with tannin and flavour while remaining perfumed, juicy and immediately appealing. Indeed it’s charming. It’s simultaneously fresh, complex and persistent. It’s a beauty."
