Woods Crampton Frances and Nicole Shiraz 2017
13th January 2020
"Deep red colour with a good tint of purple, the bouquet smoky, toasty-oaky and showing a lot of stemmy bunchy notes together with raspberry regional shiraz fruit. The wine is rich and full-bodied, fleshy and texturally dense - almost chewy. The acidity is prominent and the vegetal flavours from stems are rather dominant in the mouth; the tannins are sappy and faintly bitter on the aftertaste. This is different. A little ageing may help it. Potential is there. (Fechner vineyard; 25% whole bunch; 3, 552 bottles made.)"
