Maretti Chianti 2018

Value and flavour delivered... 91 Points

"I think this may once have been called ‘Ricatto’, but now cleverly trading on the, perhaps, more potent Maretti brand. Anyway, the bottle in front of me looks great, and the colour is more burgundy than red for the background to the name, and it has a DOCG stripe at the base of the capsule. Looks great.

Cherries, dark, sweet and sour, almond paste, perfume of dried herbs. It’s medium-bodied, but fleshy and ripe, powdery tannin, some new leather savoury stuff and a subtle bitter tweak, solid finish. Drinks well. Value and flavour delivered, with appropriate regional character. Yep. Good stuff."
