Summary: Les Courtilles (a series of small courtyards) is named after the village winery founded in 1997 by Bernard Schurr. Here Bernard had the ambition of crafting small batches of wines with individual character and charm. Les Courtilles Cotes du Rhone is sourced from 35-year-old vines on the right bank of the Rhone between Orange and Avignon
Winemaking: The barren plains of the Plan de Dieu (God’s Plain) have a winemaking heritage dating back to the 14th Century. Deep pebble beds result in rich and powerfully flavoured wines. Organically grown fruit is hand harvested before a traditional vinification using small open fermenters and maturation in two three-year old large format oak for nine months.
Vintage 2023 : An elegant and approachable vintage that delivered wines with remarkable structure, vibrant energy, and harmonious balance.
Tasting Note: A lifted and attractive nose, very modern in style and unforced, with red berry aromas met by spice and dried herbs. The palate is likewise fruit focused and vibrant with supple black berries, candied fruit and aniseed surrounded by soft savoury spice and fine tannins.
