Summary: Crimson Monster creates monstrously rich and full-bodied wines sourced from low-yielding, established vineyards located in some of South Australia’s finest regions such as McLaren Vale and Coonawarra.
Thick gnarled old vines produce tiny berries of incredible intensity that is harnessed by careful winemaking and partial maturation in large seasoned oak barrels to deliver wonderfully approachable, opulent and mouth-coating flavours.
Winemaking: Staggered hand-picking sections of the vineyard ensuring the fruit is at optimal ripeness. The fruit was de-stemmied and fermentation occurred in a combination of two-tonne fermenters with twice daily hand plunging and pump overs. All components blended post-fermentation before the final wine was partly matured in small French oak barrels for 6 months before bottling with minimal fining, filtration and sulphur addition.
Vintage 2024: Strong winds throughout late November and much of December heavily affected flowering - affecting the yield of crop. A cooler than average growing season and a dry fall has delivered quality fruit and exciting reds.
Tasting Note: Brightly fruited and fragrant, sweet cherry, raspberry, rich floral and subtle spice aromas, followed by a juicy, fruit-forward palate, easy drinking and delicious
