Summary: Il Villaggio Organico Pinot Grigio is sourced from high altitude vineyards near the Slovenian border, north east of Venice. The combination of altitude, mineral gravel soils and a protected site creates richly flavoured but elegant wines. Andrea Sartori has been a pioneer in Organic viticulture and the vineyards have been certified Organic for up to thirty years.
 
Winemaking: Hand harvested in the early morning to retain natural acidity. Primarily whole bunched pressed, aiming to limit skin contact and preserve elegance. Fermented in stainless steel with temperature control before maturation on lees to build texture and complexity. 
 
2018 Vintage: A vintage that brought a more even ripening season to Italy bringing yields closer to previous averages. The berries ripened, developing fine natural acidities whilst arriving at excellent flavour and phenolic ripeness. The wines will show bright fruit flavours with lifted aromatics. This is a fine vintage for white and red wines.
 
Tasting Note: A lovely fresh nose of subtle stone fruit, spice, riverstone and subtle musk. Very pure and beautifully layered with fruit-driven flavours of nashi pear and freshly cut apple building to an expansive and textured mid-palate contrasted by slatey complexity and a briney twang. An impressively intense and complex wine with a beautiful mineral backbone. Best over the next three years.
