Summary: Terre de Melazzano is a working family owned winery with 24 hectares of estate vineyards in the heart of Chianti Classico and Greve. The vineyard itself is planted on the hillsides bordering the small ancient hamlet of Monte San Michele which is situated at 950 meters above sea level. The cellars of the estate house modern winemaking equipment in the original buildings enabling the pursuit of classic local wine styles through a contemporary technical lens delivering an array of bright, vibrant organic wines.
Winemaking: Fermented in stainless steel on lees and partial skins before being transferred to large format used French oak for storage and maturation. Here the wines soften, develop added complexity and integrate the bright red fruit flavours, with skin tannin and crisp acidity. The wines are bottled, packed in laydown cartons and held in the cellars for a further 6 months before release.
Tasting Note: Violets, red rose, red cherry and plum aromas explode from the glass whilst the palate displays darker mixed berry fruit characters with florals and subtle herbs. This is a mid-weight wine with ample fruit flesh supported by firming tannins and a lively acidity. This is wine built for serious enjoyment in the short and medium term.
