Summary: Tread Softly is a contemporary range of wines seeking to deliver delicious, intensely flavoured wines that are naturally medium weighted and moderate in alcohol. By using more sustainable vineyard management and wine-making techniques to ensure their production has had a minimal impact to the environment. Tread Softly is committed to reducing their carbon footprint and so commits to planting an Australian Native Tree for every 6pk sold.

Vineyards: Fruit for the Tread Softly premium range was Sourced from established vineyards of the Coldstream sub region of the Yarra Valley.

Winemaking: Handpicked from a single vineyard in Coldstream, VIC before 100% wild fermented in French barriques of which 20% was new. The wine then went through monthly battonage before bottling.

2021 Vintage: In terms of the 2021 vintage, Spring 2020 was warm and wet, with enough bursts of sunshine to ensure the best flowering and fruit in 3 years. Consistent fruit set matched with plentiful ground water led to vigorous canopy development an large crops. The possibility of disease hung heavy especially after large amounts of rainfall in January and the quality of the vintage was in the balance. However, an auspicious change in conditions led to a two-month run of glorious weather that saw warm days, cold nights and elongated ripening. In terms of quality, tannin concentration and ripeness will be the hallmark of 2021.

Tasting Note: Yarra Valley Chardonnay that is focussed and nicely structured. It shows citrus and cashew aromas on the nose and palate making for an impressive and long lasting flavour profile. Satisfying French oak is seamless and underpins the experience prior to a long finish. Pair with a classic roast chicken.
