Carbon Neutral Planting Programme

Tread Softly is pleased to announce it has reached its initial target of planting 100,00 native trees. But this is just the start of an annual commitment to ensure we readdress the need for an urgent planting programme that will hopefully one day cover an area of 400 hectares in the Yarra Yarra biodiversity corridor in WA. Consumers have embraced and continue to endorse the brand as there is a feeling that they are making a difference. Not only that but the style of wine (being naturally lower in alcohol) resonates with a new generation of drinker.

The Carbon Neutral Planting Programme is a unique tree planting operation that we have supported from the start. It’s an absolute force of nature what is happening in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity corridor in WA, where the native trees are planted like a legion of hopeful environmental warriors awaiting their turn to thrive and continue the growth cycle as mother nature intended.

The idea of the programme in 2020 is to re-vegetate over 387 hectares of the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity corridor in WA. The first plantings were conducted in 2008 and the latest addition of planting will take the entire project to 13,500 hectares since it commenced. The predominant native trees comprise of Eucalyptus, acacia, banksia, melaleuca with the carbon projection being 200 tonnes of CO2- per hectare.

“Carbon Neutral has been delighted to share in Fourth Wave Wine's journey as they aim to plant 100,000 trees through the Tread Softly brand. Since joining our Plant-a-Tree program in early 2019, Fourth Wave Wine has shown a commitment to the planet and made a genuine impact on native habitat restoration in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor. We hope that the creation of Tread Softly forests continues well into the future.”
